By the time you graduate from King’s College London, you’ll have the skills and confidence to kick-start your career as an adult nurse and deliver, develop, lead and research healthcare practice.

This MSc is designed to give you the knowledge you need to begin a rewarding career as an adult nurse, whatever your background. But you’ll need to have some healthcare related experience to join us. Half of your time will be spent gaining practical experience on placements. The other half will be learning from our experts to understand theoretical areas, including care delivery, research principles and clinical leadership.

The overall aims of the course are to enable graduates to acquire advanced understanding, knowledge and skills in nursing in order that they may deliver, develop, lead and research healthcare practice. In addition, the course aims to ensure that nurses who graduate are skilled, competent, compassionate professionals who have satisfied the academic and clinical requirements and standards as stipulated in the Nursing & Midwifery Council Standards of Proficiency and the academic requirements of King’s College London for the award of a Master’s degree.

As well as possessing the skills and knowledge to perform competently in a variety of clinical practice environments, the course enables you to lead, support and plan the delivery of high quality care to patients and their families, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Course Aims

  • Develop knowledge and understanding in holistic identification and assessment of healthcare needs including formulation of plans and strategies for meeting healthcare needs and delivering person-centred nursing practice.
  • Evidence-based care delivery and evaluation for adult nursing practice.
  • Medication management, pharmacology and preparation for prescribing.
  • The essential physical and mental health needs of people of all ages.
  • Information management and use of technology in healthcare delivery, and the role of the nurse in delivering digital health.
  • Critical understanding of the relationship between research and practice.
