Contemporary society is confronted with many problems in the context of social cohesion and inequality. Trust and solidarity are decreasing, populism is on the increase, and the welfare state is in decline. The interrelationships between education, work, family, and well-being are becoming more complex and interpersonal contacts are changing as a result of the social media. Students of the Master’s program are taught to translate these and other social issues into sociological questions and to test theoretical answers using social statistics.
