Developments throughout engineering are transforming modern healthcare. The rise of machine learning, the adoption of surgical robotics, parallel developments in radiopharmaceutical chemistry and molecular imaging, and the availability of advanced imaging and big data have opened up several new domains of knowledge which will be key to further technological advances. Our Healthcare Technologies MSc/MRes will train students in healthcare engineering and build their clinical and industrial awareness of problems and solutions for technology in modern global healthcare. The MSc/MRes is designed to prepare students for doctoral research degrees or employment in the healthcare sector.
Key benefits
- Accredited by The Institute of Engineering and Technology. Accreditation entitles the degree holder to Chartered Engineer status when presented with an accredited undergraduate degree.
- Will fully equip students to take advantage of exciting new developments and maximise their potential to transform healthcare.
- Opportunity for all students to link with clinical, industrial and radiopharmaceutical partners.
- Allow students to develop advanced technical competencies that have clinical and commercial relevance.
- On completion of their studies, students will be well-prepared to take control of their own career trajectories and to begin to lead new developments in these technological advances.
Our programme is designed to provide students with an advanced and comprehensive understanding of the engineering challenges facing modern, global healthcare. The programme will enable students to take advantage of the breadth of knowledge at our institution, exposing them to the most recent and most exciting developments in medical and surgical intervention and to tailor their programme toward their own career ambitions. Our programme's modules will introduce students to the most important concepts and techniques that underpin the most recent advances in healthcare technology such as machine learning, medical devices & robotics, state-of-the-art medical imaging and smart molecules. Substantial components of project work will enable them to test and understand the theory and applications studied alongside internationally recognised engineers, clinicians and industrial partners.
