The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is home to a high concentration of accomplished and internationallyrecognized researchers, including the Jarislowsky Foundation Research Chair in Water and Global Health. Carleton is also home to a wide assortment of world-class research facilities. As a result, our graduate students gain hands-on research experience while developing state-of-the-art theory. Our degree programs in Civil Engineering are jointly taught with the University of Ottawa through the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Civil Engineering (OCICE). The MASc requires the completion of a thesis while the MEng is predominately coursebased with the option of a research project.
