01 August, 2026Cyber Security Management is designed for graduates looking to understand or apply cyber security in a consultancy, strategic, business or management context. With our expert guidance, you will learn to understand the cyber threat landscape, manage resources, implement solutions and effectively communicate these to senior decision makers. This course is certified by the National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ).
Over the course of the year, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the cyber threat landscape, including the various types of threats, attack vectors, and the motivations behind cyber attacks. You will study how to systematically assess and manage risks, enabling you to identify potential vulnerabilities within an organisational setting and determine the best strategies to mitigate them. Additionally, you will gain hands-on experience in implementing solutions using a wide range of technologies that would allow you to safeguard digital assets.
The course is designed in consultation with industry experts to support learners in developing the essential skills required to protect an organisation's digital assets from cyber threats and attacks. The right balance between theory and practise, combined with utilising a broad range of practices and technologies will enable you to address various aspects of cyber security, from preventive measures to incident response and recovery, allowing you to build upon skills for delivering solutions within the broader context of organisational security strategies.
Your technical expertise will be enhanced with a strategic approach to cyber security that will enable you to deliver effective solutions, allowing you to lead security initiatives, manage teams, and communicate complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
By the end of the course, you will be prepared to take on key roles in cyber security, contributing to the development and implementation of robust security policies and practices that protect an organisation's digital infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. Your unique set of skills will initiate career opportunities in various areas of cybersecurity, including cybersecurity consultancy, information security, security operations, IT audits, incident response, and risk and compliance management.
This course draws extensively on current professional practices, and benefits from teaching input by cyber security professionals currently working in their areas of expertise. It also draws extensively on our world class research experience. During the course of studies, you will have opportunities to participate in research projects with leading researchers.
This course is certified by the National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ) and accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT.

In addition to the taught modules, you will complete a dissertation project which is worth a third of your final Master's grade (60 credits). This substantial individual project is designed to strengthen your academic and research skills, while allowing you to explore a specific area of cyber security that reflects your interests and career goals. The project for Cyber Security Management must demonstrate managerial, consultation or leadership insight and depth. The project will be presented as a written dissertation, submitted at the end of the academic year.
